NJIT alumnus Clarence M. Rodgers, who earned his Master of Science degree at our university, made a generous gift to K2MFF by donating a collection of radio equipment that he has assembled over many years. A lifelong amateur radio enthusiast, Clarence hopes to provide today’s students with the opportunity to explore the technology, understand its practical applications, and gain valuable hands-on experience using professional-grade equipment.

Clarence’s passion for amateur radio began during his military service in Germany, where he was stationed in Nuremberg. His assignments throughout Germany further deepened his interest in ham radio and laid the foundation for a lifelong pursuit.

After returning to the United States, Clarence served at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, before continuing his career at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. Throughout his distinguished professional career, he worked for leading organizations including Monsanto, Lockheed, and Westinghouse. His work took him throughout the Caribbean, Chicago, and Eastern Canada, giving him the opportunity to apply his expertise in a variety of technical settings. He also shared his knowledge as an instructor at Barringer High School, Essex County Community College, and Essex County Vocational Technical Schools.

As K2MFF continues to work towards its goal of updating the equipment in the shack and antenna systems for our 100th aniversary, Clarence’s donation will play an important role as we test and replace equipment. NJIT and K2MFF are deeply grateful for Clarence’s generosity and commitment to education. His donation is more than a gift of equipment—it is an investment in the next generation of amateur radio operators, engineers, and lifelong learners. Thanks to alumni like Clarence, current and future students will have the opportunity to develop practical skills, explore emerging technologies, and carry forward the spirit of curiosity and innovation that has long defined amateur radio.
